Ed Stratford speaks to the Financial News; ‘US legal giants scaling up in London’

Partner Ed Stratford recently spoke with the Financial News about US firms’ hiring in London.  The recent high-profile lateral moves in firms such as Sullivan & Cromwell, Davis Polk and Cravath represent “massive statement hires” and a “real cultural shift”.  He added, “They’ve traditionally been very conservative about growth, but prestige
alone no longer guarantees success — clients expect genuine scale on both sides of the Atlantic. I’d expect these firms to build out in London around the areas where they are strongest in the US”.
